Custom-built M1s are a special type of
firearm, built within fairly narrow boundaries in terms of features and
qualities that customers expect to see. Many times these features are
duplicated by the tool-literate shooter with good results; the rifles are
functional and provide most of what the average shooter wants.

the expense? Is it just the cosmetics? Is it just a fee for the cachet of a
recognized signature on the rifle? Or is there something in the combination of
mechanical refinement and esthetic craftsmanship that truly does set a master’s
work above and beyond the hobbyist? DGR understands the combination of
esthetics, accuracy and function and combines these in the building or
re-building of M1s.
The hobbyist can purchase the same
barrel, stock, springs and parts, but most do not know what it takes to fine
tune these parts into an M1 that will achieve its full potential. This is
